List of all active robots on and around Mars
Humanity has populated Mars with a variety of robots over the years. From rovers to landers to orbiting spacecraft, theres been a lot – and it can be overwhelming. Read on to see all the missions still active on and around Mars today.
In the late s, when people were asked when humanity would colonize Mars, most said within a decade. Its clear that off the excitement of the Moon landings, the red planet seemed obtainable. And according to NASA Astronaut Chris Hadfield, it was.
We could send people to Mars decades ago, Hadfield told Business Insider. The technology that took us to the moon and back when I was just a kid — that technology can take us to Mars. Knowing the risks of a long deep space journey and being dumped on a world with conditions harsher than any on Earth, he went on to explain we didnt go because the majority of the astronauts wouldnt make it.
Its a long 34 million-mile slog through space to reach Mars (when its closest to Earth). A trip that could take anywhere around seven months, traveling at about 24, mph or 39, kph (the speed of a spacecraft leaving Earths atmosphe

NASA Unveils Year Mars utforskning Plan: Robots, Life on Mars, and Budget Challenges
NASA has released its “Expanding the Horizons of Mars Science” strategi and in the process outlined a high-level strategy for 20 years of Mars utforskning, including robots. This will involve low-cost missions at every opportunity presented as well as a strategi to take advantage of more commercial and international partnership opportunities and collaborations.
NASA’s Ambitious New Strategy for Mars Exploration
The draft utgåva of NASA’s plan was first released in March and the finalised utgåva is not far from this första outline.
The program largely focuses on NASA’s “science-driven robotic Mars program” which fryst vatten a separate mission from Mars Sample Return and does not refer to any crewed missions. The document instead discusses how robotic missions may be able to gather bevis and answer some of the crucial questions about Mars, which could be a crucial precursor to more crewed missions.
There are three main themes in the document, the first is called “exploring the potential for Martian life,” and will look for any indication of life on the planet. The second theme, “supporting the human explor
