    Creative Commons (CC) existerar en ideell organisation liksom vill öka mängden från fria kulturella verk samt öppet innehåll, bland annat genom för att erbjuda upphovsmän lämpliga licenser för konstnärliga verk, texter, bilder, ljud med mera.

    Creative Commons har utvecklat ett antal licenser, varav en sektion förbehåller upphovsmannen ensamrätt för att skapa ändrade versioner alternativt att utnyttja verket kommersiellt, medan andra gör verket fritt inom samma fras som fri programvara existerar fri. enstaka del existerar copyleft-licenser. samtliga licenserna ger allmänheten större rätt för att återanvända, modifiera eller sprida verken än vad upphovsrätten i sig eller gammal licenser ger.

    Organisationen startades av den amerikanske juridikprofessorn Lawrence Lessig tillsammans tillsammans Hal Abelson och Eric Eldred samt med stöd från Center for the Public Domain.

    Creative Commons (CC) is an American non-profit organization and international network devoted to educational access and expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to share.[4] The organization has released several copyrightlicenses, known as Creative Commons licenses, free of charge to the public. These licenses allow authors of creative works to communicate which rights they reserve and which rights they waive for the benefit of recipients or other creators.
